State of Denial

How many hints do you need to really get it and take notice? The other day whilst talking to a client, he talked about many things happening in his life right now and could not see the connection. Naturally as his coach I lit the torch in that direction and he calmly recognised that the was just skirting the issue so many times that it got to the next level and it was really impacting his health and sanity.

He was in a state of denial. And sadly enough many of us do just that, bury our heads in the sand hoping it will just go away and we can live sheltered and protected. Unfortunately we cannot stay in this 'child-like' thinking as problems and challenges need to be addressed and overcome otherwise they overcome you!

And besides as I often say to my clients "who is driving the bus? "YOU ARE, so you can take a different road and it is ok to admit you have make a mistake, you can turn around and go back, just move on from it and feel that you are getting closer to your objectives. Paths are just that, there is no wrong or right way when you are driving your bus, many roads lead to the same destination, see these roads as strategies of getting there.

You may decide to take a break from the driving and take a walk and appreciate the beauty around you, smell the fresh cut lawn. Or even go a different route because you haven't been there before and it looks nice.

New roads are always being built too, so here are new ways of exploring the path and feeling the newness to it all.

If you bury your head and stay in denial mode you just delay the inevitable, so come out NOW and just DO IT.
