No ifs, maybes or buts

One client mentioned to me a few weeks back that she lives by: No ifs, maybes or buts. I just love it.

This means she is action orientated and keeps going no matter what. So why does she need me? Well as a friendly outsider, her coach, I am her cheering squad and she feels accountable for her actions and having me there, this is pivotal to her development and self awareness.

If you watch your language how often do you say: ifs, maybes or buts? This gives you a feeling of uncertainty and basically you are 'sitting on the fence' Waiting for an external force to decide for you. It may happen, yet it is not very empowering is it?

Something to think about. When you take out these words from your vocabulary you are the driver of you own bus, you create your day and you decide when to jump in. You initiate and you are in constant motion towards what you want.

So if those close to you say: ifs, maybes or buts, raise their awareness of what that truly means, and just perhaps you will get a definite answer instead!

Relaxing Away

What a wonderful couple of days, still pumped from our mini holiday. We ventured out into the big blue sea and sailed for a few days. It is amazing how your body adapts to the new environment. When you are on land you get used to having the shops nearby, need something off you go. Need the convenience of the internet, TV, the fridge it is all there, effortless really.

Being on a vessel your body knows something is up, when your body gets tense from the turbulent seas, it adjusts, your stomach tells you "not hungry thanks" and your head is just well, lets just say, feeling the movements and you get the rush of the fresh air in your face. You are in a new environment and it copes, in fact after 3 days sailing and seeing abundant water and sky you are an adventurer, seeing things in that moment as you travel 4.5 knots on your course home bound. You get a very different perspective at life, being dependent on a 42 foot boat, all your food is there, your bed, your entertainment (reading anybody) more photos of the harbour bridge anybody?

When you relax you open yourself up for different opportunities, so glad we had each other and company to share it with.

Magical moment for sure.

Grow 1 % Each Day

Over the weekend, we attended a personal development seminar, the speaker which had the most impact for me was Marc Dussault, he was amazing, a speed reader and an achiever. One message that I walked away with was " growing 1% more each day" so do something better everyday, to be exceptional. All of us can do 1% after all we want to improve and get competent in new skills and challenges.

So what do you start with? Well I also realised that if I could learn how to speed read, I can gain an hour or so more each day, worthwhile skill to learn right? Absolutely. Also when you committ to that 1% your life keeps getting better as you improve along the way. For me it is about being conscious of giving 1% more or giving 1% more value every day to my clients, family, friends. It makes me what to get better and think outside the box.

Worth implementing in your life? I guess the only way is to give it a go and be proactive about growing that 1% each day, no matter what!

Commit to being there for people. Approaching things from a different angle. Getting a coach, to make you more accountable. Stretching yourself with your business. Seeking more like-minded people. There are so many things you can do. Tidying your office each day and keeping it organised.

Planning the menus, keeping lists, remembering names and birthdays. The list is endless.

It is fun what you can come up with to simply grow that little bit each day.

Bottlenecks

Most big cities have them; they can frustrate you, make you angry and rushed and above all make you late. Traffic jams or bottlenecks, in French they say “bouchon” which translates to: cork in bottle. Imagine that is exactly how it feels being in one waiting for it to die down, to dissipate, after the tension has been building. So you can move again.

You hear the horn and it makes your tension rise, you look at the time and wonder how long is this going to take. We even get creative and sometimes you can see women putting on their face on i.e., make up on, reading the paper. I even saw someone brushing their teeth in traffic, and one man giving himself a shave with one hand and driving the car with his other hand!

That is because we cannot just sit there idle in traffic; we need to use our precious time doing something!

Our bodies also create blockages, thus our systems can be jammed up with tension, stress and anxiety. Your body knows when its’ stressed and it reacts accordingly. Your shoulders get tighter and your neck can also become a causality. You do shallow breathing and this sends an alarm to your body, as it fights to gasp more air. We all know that feeling when our bodies let us down, we manifested this first in our minds and then the body just adapted to our everyday stress. Learning coping strategies can assist you release these tensions. Come and see a Success Coach, so we can support you on your journey.

After all being in a bottleneck is sometimes unpreventable, but being this way on the inside is a choice and you can get out of it with confidence and then you can navigate your way to your chosen path.

Truly Inspirational

We all have administration to do in our daily lives, you know the bills need paying, following up old emails, tidying the office and the paper trail. Once you can declutter and streamline operations as I call it, you can get on with your day and feel more in control of your purpose.

Today is a day like that, well a few hours this morning anyway. I came across an old newsletter and as I love reading about personal development, stopped to enjoy a very inspirational video.

This is about a women who is also a neuroanatomist, had a stroke and her amazing insights and recovery. Listen to

Dr Jill Bolte Taylor My Stroke of Insight

I started a meditation course a few weeks ago, and now I can work on exploring some of these amazing insights,

Thanks Jill.

Gratitude

It is interesting when you are feeling low, all you need to do is change your state. Otherwise all you will experience are those thoughts of sadness and gloom. You stay in your grumpy state and the experiences you have match that.

So a useful tip, I suggest many times to my clients is to focus on what you are greateful for? Your health, your surroundings, your home, the day, the sun. Even just smiling to a complete stranger will change your state.

Coming from a place of gratitude changes what others feel about you because you feel different yourself right?

It starts with you. I remember the other day whilst in the city, many people walk with a blank stare on their face, programmed to be like sheep, following the rest of the blank sheep. Then in the midst of this sadness setting, my eyes drift to a smiling lady, she radiates this from within and her whole body is smiling. I was compelled to look at her and smile right back! It felt great, as we had a connection in that precise moment. I was grateful to have her come in my path that day.

At the Other End

Well, it is Wednesday and I am still here. I survived and came out the other end!
Often times when you really push yourself you know you are in new ground, it is shakey yet you know it is necessary for your growth and your confidence.

Then you are on cloud nine, for having the audacity and the sheer determination to see it through. Many people STOP short of tackling that barrier, all they see is the pain and the unknown. Yet those brave hearts who just get on with it and brave the elements are rewarded. Oh yes it feels very transformational for me anyway..

The other side is new again, we have shed a layer of ourselves in the process, just like what a snake does. All shiny and new. Even the day seems different, more alive more welcoming and we notice the opportunities.

I would love to stay in this state, high as a kite and ready to take on the next challenge!

Well Done, bravo and take a bow you deserve it.

Pieces of Pie

Life is like a pie, we segment different areas for those important aspects: Health, Family, Relationships, Career, Finances etc. Whatever is important to you. If one area is bigger than the other, then this creates an imbalance. One piece is too big.

If you were going to serve that piece to someone the others would complain that this is unfair and their piece is smaller. Same happens in those life areas. They become less important and you focus too much on the bigger slice.

What do you want? If this piece is bigger will that take away from the other areas?

Will you be happy having an imbalance?
Will the other areas create a mutiny as a result?

What is the better option?
New insights, alternatives to take.

Have a good think about it, as the pie needs to satisfy you in every way, mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally..

Monitor Your Thoughts

It as been a theme with a few of my clients lately, and I guess if this is a reflection of me, then I too fall into this category. Monitoring your thoughts. Often times our minds are racing 100 faster than our bodies basically we cannot keep up with the constant chatter of what we are thinking. Is it focused on the past or future? This really takes away from being 100% totally present when we start projecting into our past or future.

Today I took action, started a Charka Meditation Course, and gee that felt great, to be there in body, mind and spirit and just be me. No thinking about what is for dinner or who I need to email when I get back to my desk. Just letting the dialogue just wash away my thoughts and coming back to the stillness in my breath. It sounds easy, but let me reassure you it's not.

It is just as easy to just let the mind run with my thoughts and using my vivid imagination easy to occupy the moment. However having a faciliator drive the inner dialogue that is something else.

Monitoring your thoughts is done at the conscious level, as your mind needs to assess what you are digesting and filtering it. Either past, future, positive or negative thought patterns.

Watch out for the negative emotions, this directly feeds your mood state, your physical being and how you feel about yourself. So if you spend a large proportion of your day in the negative side, then be conscious that you need to turn it around.

Only then you can start feeling better about yourself, your choices and what comes next.
